A TikToker’s video about their DoorDash order taking longer than expected due to low tips has sparked debate among viewers.
In the video, @dardiegirl said she was charged $50 for just ordering a chicken sandwich, which made it impossible for her to tip.
“When every Door Dasher keeps canceling your order because you only tipped $1.50, but they don’t understand that you’re charging $50 for McChicken at McDonald’s,” the text overlay reads. “Now you’ve been watching delivery times get longer and your stomach is touching your back.”

Some felt the poster should have tipped more, especially considering she knew that’s why her order wasn’t picked up. One viewer urged her to “better tip” in the video’s top comment, calling DoorDash a luxury service and noting that customers pay for convenience.
Another commenter wrote: “Get up and buy your own food, DoorDash drivers are just random people, they won’t pay you $50 to deliver food to you.”
“So you want dasher to do charity work or not?” a third questioned.
Others sided with customers, expressing sympathy for the high prices and long waits for delivery.
“Because why are they tipping 50%,” wrote one commenter. “My total will be $14 and they want a $10 tip like nothing.”
“I know you’re supposed to tip, but like dasher chooses to do the job herself, you know…the price is tough right now, at least she’s tipping,” another commenter wrote.
Another top reviewer argued that rather than being unhappy with drivers or customers, the blame should fall on the company, writing, “Angry at charging too much for access and paying drivers too little!!”
DoorDash drivers shared their thoughts on the drop in low-tipping orders, and restaurant workers shared their views on orders they saw waiting for drivers to take orders due to low tipping. However, few customers gave viewers a glimpse of what it was like to wait for an order after admitting to tipping.
