Starbucks barista summons drive-thru customers to order 32 items

TikToker Jordy (@jordytoone) has posted a lot about his work as a Starbucks employee, with a resume that reads: “It’s basically just a Starbucks barista account right now.” The 23-year-old recently shared a clip A video of his workplace caught people’s attention.

The Sept. 6 video shows customers’ tickets being lined up from a single drive-thru order that includes a total of 32 (yes, you read that right) drinks. In the title, Jody noted that only five orders were waters, and only three people were working on the site at the time.

The video also used the newscaster’s voiceover to say, “Good evening. Top news tonight: Everything sucks.” Users in the comments section seemed to agree. As of Sept. 7, the video had been viewed 26,000 times, with most showing sympathy for Jody.

@jordytoone bruh we only have 3 rn here and only 5 of them are waters 😫 #starbucks #frappuccino #fyp ♬ Soundtrack – Mark Humphries

I literally cry,” one user wrote, to which Jody responded, “I did a little.”

Many pointed out that it wasn’t the number of drinks customers ordered, but the fact that they ordered 32 drinks at the drive-thru restaurant. “Out of 32??? Omg, they can come in,” one said.

Why don’t people walk into cafes if they know they have orders like this,” echoed another, to which Jody agreed.

Many other Starbucks employees claimed it was a typical day and recounted their own experiences working on busy shifts.

If I see an iced matcha latte during a ga rush, it’s over,” said one.

Yes, I won’t miss working there,” another added.

TikTok shows us that few jobs seem to be tougher than working in the food service industry. Starbucks customers are known to have complex orders, and the company encouraged them in a May statement to Fox to continue to customize after employees complained. Staff “overworked, exhausted and exhausted” are part of the reason Starbucks employee collective Starbucks United outlined on its website why it is working to unionize stores.
