TikToker says you should always drink water when offered

If you’re someone who usually refuses a glass of water, you might want to start accepting it. One TikToker said that when someone asks you if you want water, you should always drink water to set yourself apart.

TikToker, Grant Mitterlehner (@grantmitt), is the CEO of a solar energy company with around 142,000 followers. He is known for posting life advice and work tips on the app.

In one of his most recent videos, he told his followers to “always drink water.” He says it’s a simple psychological trick that can help them “instantly” be liked and respected by more people.

Usually, when you enter someone’s home or business, they give you a glass of water, Mitterlehner said. Most people usually refuse to drink water.

“Be someone who says yes,” Mitrener says in the video. “Think about who people want to give things to when they come home: people they like, love and respect. So be the one who says yes because it shows you respect yourself, differentiate yourself from others, and Make instant connections with others.”

Mitterlehner’s suggestion seemed to resonate with the audience. Some commented that they like that people accept the water they offer.

“You’re right, I gave people water and they didn’t want it. Even though it wasn’t their intention, it immediately made me feel a little bit offended,” commented one viewer.

“As a good hostess, you’d better take what I offer,” said the second.

A third said, “Agreed! I always provide water, and I have a bowl of candy at the door of the company.”

Others echoed that Mitrainer offered “good advice” and “good points.” However, some people do not see a consensus, claiming they prefer that people refuse to drink water.

“As a host, I’d rather they didn’t drink! That’s just me,” said one user.

Another viewer wrote: “No, I’ll be relieved they say no. Seriously, I’m offering it out of courtesy.”

Some users offered their own explanations for why people should “always drink water.”

“It also allows others to ‘help you,'” one user wrote.

“They’re making bids, that’s how you build trust in the bank for meaningful connections. Open the door, smile, hello, all bids,” another user wrote.

Someone said: “Love this. It’s called a paradigm shift. Watch it when you let them enjoy giving you something instead of you taking it.”

The Daily Dot contacted Mitterlehner via email.
